They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but what happens when you’re limited to 150 characters instead? Even the best e-learning experiences can fall short if they’re not designed with all learners in mind. That’s where alternative text, or alt text, comes into play. Serving multiple functions, alt text is descriptive text that course authors can incorporate to ensure that all learners—even those using screen readers— can fully experience and understand course content, whether it’s visual or text-based. But writing compelling alt text that truly informs versus distracts is easier said than done.
In this session, you will::
Identify the most common types of e-learning graphics and their alt text needs.
Determine the critical information that needs to be conveyed in the alt text.
Write effective alt text for different types of content and situations.
